In collaboration with Inframetrix, it became evident that Marblehead not only needed to initiate an inspection program but they also needed better methods to document Service Request and the work activity resulting from blockages and other maintenance tasks. They also needed a way to make their GIS data accessible to everyone in the department and required an easy way to link all the Inframetrix zoom camera condition information and inspection videos to it. In addition they specified that the system should use the condition data and other information to help the department prioritize capital projects and work activity. Inframetrix introduced Vueworks to them; they realized this was the software package that addressed these needs and more.

Through the use of Vueworks’ configurable condition assessment tool the department set up a condition criteria that matched the information coming from Inframetrix. This enabled them to color code pipes according to condition information and to apply Vueworks Risk based prioritization for capital projects and maintenance activity. The department quickly adopted the Service Request module and now records all calls coming in. They are also active with the Work Order module as they assign crews to address the issues that were found through the inspection process and from Service Request.

With Vueworks in place Marblehead is now able to proactively address potential blockages in the sewer collection system before issues arise. They have adopted an Asset Management program that engages them to systematically inspect the collection system and store all the data in Vueworks. They then create work orders to send crews out in the field to address these issues as well as issues reported through Service Request. Since Works Orders are attached to assets they can now easily identify problem areas based on work activity to justify capital project expenditures.
